Changes to eligibility for Covid vaccine this autumn.

The eligibility criteria for covid vaccine has changed for this autumn with many people no longer able to receive the covid vaccine under the NHS – even if they have had it in previous years.

You can get the winter COVID-19 vaccine if you:

  • – are aged 75 or over (including those who will be 75 by 31 January 2026)
    – are aged 6 months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system due to immunosuppressant medication
    – live in a care home for older adults

The biggest change is that the age range for eligibility has been raised from 65 years old to 75 years old.

We know from our recent clinic that many people have been disappointed with this change. We can understand this disappointment but are not able to override this guidance. We can still offer the seasonal flu vaccine in line with previous years.
